The Hungarian Institute for Educational Research and Development (Hungarian acronym: OFI), one of the background agencies of the Ministry of Education and Culture carries out research, development and innovation activities and provides related services to enhance the development of education in Hungary.

 

The Institute plays an active role in producing, increasing and disseminating knowledge that can be applied at all levels of education.

 

By taking into equal account the aspects of research norms, of public administration and governance as well as those of pedagogical and institution management practice the Institute in its activities strives to improve the quality, efficiency, effectiveness and equity of education. It aims to facilitate Hungary to efficiently utilise the possibilities made available by international cooperation and European integration to enhance the modernization of education.

 

By joint efforts of trained experts and by the efficient use of available resources the Institute carries out its activities as a learning organization in partnership with other research and development institutions and professional and civil organizations as well as other actors of education.

 

By its collections and services the National Educational Library and Museum (Hungarian acronym: OPKM) operating under the aegis of the Hungarian Institute for Educational Research and Development aims at enhancing educational research, the theoretical and practical work as well as the self-improvement of the actors of education.
